ADS is literally composed of the best professionals in the dental transition field. We do not offer franchises to just anyone who wants to sell dental practices. All prospective members must pass review by our nomination committee and meet quality and experience requirements. To be admitted to ADS, they must be voted upon by the entire American Dental Sales membership. American Dental Sales members are subject to internal standards and peer review. We take integrity, competence and quality seriously!

How We Are Different

  • We show up. Whether we drive or fly, we are there... Most dental practice brokers, shows up to list the dental practice, but that is it. Not us. We believe that all brokerage is local, and that we need to be there. When we do the valuation, we show up. When the prospect visits the dental practice, we show up. When they want to come back again and take a more detailed look, we show up. When we meet with the lawyer, we show up. When we have the closing, we show up.
  • We only represent the seller. Some dental practice brokers do not have a problem with "dual agency" and will take a commission from both sides. We believe that this is not only bad business, but unethical. Other dental practice brokers compare themselves to a "referee". Do you want a referee or someone that is advising you and advocating on your behalf?
  • Reputation We have been doing this for 30+ years. Like a dentist, our reputation is everything! Do five hundred deals, and just do one bad deal, and that's the one that people will talk about. Guy Jaffe, MBA received his undergraduate degree in business administration from the University of Illinois in Champaign and his MBA from Washington University in St. Louis. He had a successful career developing and managing commercial real estate as president of Pan American Realty Corporation. At one time, Mr. Jaffe served as Director of Community and Economic Development for the state of Missouri. He currently serves as a director of Metropolitan Capital Bancorp in Chicago. Mr. Jaffe holds real estate broker's licenses in both Missouri and Illinois and is designated as an approved PACE program sponsor by the Academy of General Dentistry. He is a member of The Practice Valuation Study Group. In January 1996, Mr. Jaffe was a founding member of American Dental Sales (ADS).

Peter J. Ackerman, CVA, CPA is a graduate of Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with degrees in Accounting, General Business and Finance. He began his career in private accounting at Lane Industries, Northbrook, IL a holding company over such organizations as General Binding Company, Lane Hotels, Lane Aviation, Secret Communication and several other subsidiaries. In 1996 after earning his Certified Public Accountant designation Mr. Ackerman became a principle in ADS Midwest. He is a member of and past President of ADS, past Chairman of Professional Management Consultants Association, a licensed real estate broker, a licensed business broker, a CPA, Certified Valuation Analyst, Certified Exit Planning Advisor and adjunct Faculty Midwestern University College of Dentistry. Peter covers Chicago and the Northern Illinois area.

James R. Ackerman is a graduate of St. Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri with a B.S.B.A. in Accounting. He began his career in public accounting at Arthur Andersen. After leaving to persue his life long passion as an airline pilot, Mr. Ackerman returned home to St. Louis to join ADS Midwest. He has been with ADS Midwest for over 9 years and has completed over 50 transitions. He is a licensed real estate broker salesman in both Missouri and Illinois. Mr. Ackerman helped organize the Practice Transition lecture at the University of Iowa School of Dentistry for Alumni and students. Mr. Ackerman and Mr. Jaffe lecture to dental audiences, residency classes, dental district meetings, continuing education courses and other dental society functions throughout the Midwest and United States.
